I’ve been a part of the Catholic Financial Planners Network for a while now and here is what my experience has been. In my view, it’s been well worth it to be a part of a Catholic financial advisory community for the following five reasons.
Before we get into it, we are financial advisors in Northern Virginia, serving clients in the surrounding area and across the country. We are loyal followers of Christ and lifelong Catholics, serving Catholic clients who seeking financial advice for their families.

And now onto the blog!
#1: I love being a Catholic financial planner.
I start meetings with my wealth management clients with a prayer. It sets the tone for the entire working relationship.
It’s a blessing to be able to carry out our work in the light of our Catholic faith. It strengthens the bond between the financial advisor and clients when the Catholic virtues that the faith promotes – humility, love, forgiveness, temperance, diligence, etc. – are fully aligned within the relationship.
Joining the Catholic Financial Planners Network, I was able to meet others who are passionate about this calling like I am. It’s been great to compare notes and have colleagues with a similar mission that I can learn from.
#2: I love learning to enhance our wealth management services with the spiritual and doctrinal guidance of our shared Catholic faith.
Being a part of the network, there are a multitude of resources available about Catholic financial planning, how to run a wealth management practice for Catholic clients, etc.

#3: I love applying what I’ve learned not just to my work as a planner for Catholic clients, but also for those of other faith backgrounds.
It’s a real blessing being able to help Catholic people with their finances. Like I said, it’s a mission that stems from the core of who I am. And I find that deepening my understanding of finances for Catholic people helps me serve better those of other faith traditions as well.
For example, we once wrote a blog about Catholic mutual funds. Even if someone isn’t Catholic, they can benefit from our analysis of how these specialty funds are designed and what the drawbacks may be. Some of the characteristics of these funds can also apply to other specialized mutual funds or ETFs within the world of ESG investing.
It’s not just about being a great financial planner for Catholic people – it’s about being a great financial planner and using those skills to provide greater alignment with the values of each of our clients. This creates a better opportunity to help all our clients create the impact in the world they each feel called to accomplish.
#4: I love helping the Faith gain greater visibility in the world.
We love that by supporting the Catholic Financial Planners Network, we are helping aan organization of practical Catholics get more attention. In the broken world of today, we need the Faith to reach as many corners of the earth as possible, for healing and solace to families in a time of confusion.
#5: I love having other Catholic planners I can refer to people.
In my years working as a financial advisor for Catholic families, I’ve enjoyed long-lasting relationships that have flourished. A crtiical part of that is the discernment process that both my clients and I go through before deciding to work together.
Some prospective clients might be out of my geography and need someone exclusively local. (I’m a financial advisor in Virginia and can serve well-suited clients around the country). Or they and we might not align for some other reason. In such cases, I know I can refer them to the Catholic Financial Planner Network member directory online. It gives me a positive feeling to know that I’m not leaving them high and dry, that they can find a good Catholic financial planner without having their search be exhaustive.
